Jeff Verney is the Chairman of the Board of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, one of the country’s most esteemed regional orchestras. During his time as Board Chair, Jeff has worked closely with the HSO Board, the HSO artistic and management team, and the HSO’s world class musicians to achieve the HSO’s mission of enriching lives and community through great music. Under Jeff’s leadership, the HSO has also worked tirelessly to take the necessary steps to ensure the sustainability of the HSO, enabling the HSO to continue to openly engage the diverse greater Hartford community, while fostering joy for music and an appreciation for the transformative power of music.
Jeff has spent his professional career in the healthcare and insurance industry, serving in a variety of leadership positions at UnitedHealthcare, CIGNA, and Transamerica. Jeff was also a pioneer in the healthcare ecommerce field, where he held leadership positions at Healtheon, MedUnite, and WebMD.
In the greater Hartford community Jeff has served as the Chairman of the Board for Renbrook School, Warden of St. John’s Episcopal Church, and as a Board Member of the Northern Connecticut Chapter of the American Heart Association. Jeff also writes, records, and performs rock music with various bands; in September he released his latest single “We All Belong” with his Gratitude Abounds! Band. Jeff has also written and published The Christmas Book of Hope, a children’s Christmas picture book.
Jeff received his BS in Economics from Williams College and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School. He lives in West Simsbury with his wife Pam and his son Sam, who recently graduated from Princeton University.
