The Gallery on the Green in Canton presents the 59th Anniversary Exhibition and a solo exhibit by Marlene Mayes. On view in the main gallery are prints, drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures, fiber and ceramics from gallery member and guest artists.   In “Nature Scape” Marlene Mayes attempts to capture the quiet moments in nature where one can feel the moisture of the woods in morning or the twilight chill of an oncoming snow. Her inspiration derives from her experience of seasonal challenges from spring preparation to final harvest in her garden, backyard woodlands or the 4H Farm. Nature has been her teacher.  Mayes finds inspiration with the planting of spring bulbs, from an old stump along the road or a trail or pasture.  Trees, foliage, and weather become part of her watercolors or acrylics.   Come view the creativity and talent of diverse local artists in an intimate exhibition space. The gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm and the main gallery is handicap accessible. The gallery is located near the intersection of Dowd Avenue and Route 44 at 5 Canton Green Road in Canton.  Hours are Friday – Sunday, 1-5 pm.  The main floor gallery is handicapped accessible.    www.galleryonthegreen.org / cantonartistsguild@gmail.com /  860-693-4102.
