Connections & Collaborations
Paintings by Art Connection Studio

August 29 - September 23 | Opening Reception: September 1, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Celebrating collaboration, the artists of Art Connection Studio combine paint, paper, fabric, and other ephemera to create works highlighting the power of community, connection, and the creative spirit. Art Connection Studio is made up of a community of artists working in a vocational art program, part of Vinfen Corporation of Connecticut’s day services for individuals with intellectual and psychiatric disabilities.

"We celebrate our time together by making works of art. This work brings to light the eternal creative spirit in all things made within and built upon a community, its shared connections and many combinations of people." - Michael Galaburri, Artist / Art Therapist, Art Connection Studio

Join us for the free opening reception of Connections & Collaborations on Thursday, September 1 from 5p.m. to 7p.m.where you can meet the artists, sip on wine and munch on light hors d’oeuvres.

Exhibition Series - Remembering & Repurposing

Through January 2017

Remembering & Repurposing explores the preservation and recreation of memories and discarded materials into works of art from oil paintings to mixed media. The exhibition series, which includes five shows from established and emerging artists based in Connecticut, invites viewers to ponder the multiple histories of people and objects as they transform through time and space.

About 100 Pearl Street Gallery

Managed by the Greater Hartford Arts Council as part of its commitment to supporting and promoting the work of local artists, the 100 Pearl Street Gallery is home to contemporary art exhibits by established and emerging artists from our region. The gallery is one of downtown Hartford's "best kept secrets": a one-of-a-kind revolving exhibition space hiding behind a corporate façade.

Exhibitions represent a wide range of artistic styles—from paintings to photography, sculpture and site-specific installation—all entirely free of cost, reflecting the Arts Council's mission to make the arts accessible to everyone.
