The Arts Council responsibly invests your gift through a range of granting programs that help create a strong, united community. Each grant given by the Arts Council must meet one or more of our community impact goals, which help guide our investment strategy and ensure maximum impact of each dollar invested in our organization. The Arts Council prioritizes investment in organizations that are:

Supports programs and projects that promote physical and emotional well-being through the arts by enriching the lives of those who experience emotional, physical, and intellectual challenges on a day-to-day basis.
Providing critical unrestricted operating support to ensure that organizations can invest in technology, facility maintenance, program supplies or anything that allows the organization the ability to create, innovate and serve our community.
Returning Summer 2021
The Summer Events Grants, made possible by Summer in the City, a partnership program of the Arts Council and City of Hartford with support from Raytheon Technologies, supports community arts and cultural events happening in the City of Hartford that are free to the public. While the definition of an event can be broad, projects funded through this program can include concerts, festivals, parades, and public celebrations with clear arts connections such as music, spoken word, dance or visual arts; and similar activities. This grant is designed to assist artists of all disciplines with loss of income due to canceled events (including performances, speaking gigs, readings, exhibitions, workshops, and festival/fairs), and loss of art sales. 50% of the total funding for the Artist Emergency Relief Grant program is specifically reserved to support artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or persons of color.
Back in Business
Supports the safe reopening of the arts sector for arts organization employees, artists, and the public. Funding can be used on expenses related to reopening arts organizations, increasing audience capacity to pre-pandemic levels, and for individual artists to restart art workshops and other artistic engagements with the public.
Artists & Makers
Designed to assist artists and makers with loss of income from the COVID-19 crisis; recouping financial loss due to canceled events (including performances, teaching gigs, festival/fairs), and loss of art sales. Grant funds will be unrestricted and may be used for any of the recipient’s most pressing needs. This program is made possible by Stanley Black & Decker.
