Free First Saturday Family Program: Dance Party!

Dance, listen, and play in celebration of International Music Day! Watch a special performance of Bomba, a traditional Puerto Rican dance. Children learn about the different instruments, rhythms, and choreography! Performances by Gloria and Roberto Cepeda will take place at 10:30 and 11:30 am.

This program is free and great for children of all ages. A limited supply of Grab and Go Bags, which include the necessary supplies to complete the related craft, will be available for families who prefer not to participate in the program on-site at the Museum. MakeFest at the Connecticut Science Center

The Connecticut Science Center will be buzzing with creativity and excitement as we host engaging demonstrations, vibrant displays, and hands-on activities centered around Connecticut innovation. Join local makers, visionaries, and artisans highlighting the ingenuity that makes our state a hub for STEM and entrepreneurship and inspiring visitors to create and build with their own hands. Make music with the JAMBULANCE, discover shipbuilding or find a new passion. Activities will take place inside and outside on the plaza. The fun extends to our Rooftop Garden with family gardening activities presented by the Petit Family Foundation.

StopMotion @AMP (Virtual Art Program for Tweens)

Learn the artwork and magic of stop motion filmmaking through abstract and experimental animations, creating characters and giving life to the objects around you. In this four-week virtual program, you will use elements of nature and everyday objects, along with illustration and clay, to explore the world of storytelling. Stop motion animations will be created using a free application that can be downloaded on either an iPad or iPhone. Additional materials provided in the custom art kit.

April 8, 15, 22, and 29 (four days)

Welcome to the world of theatre! In this course, students will explore their abilities in storytelling by creating their own play with shadow puppets based on the book Little Blue Truck in Springtime by Alice Schertle. Exercises and games will focus on acting, storytelling, puppetry, and character building. Kindergarten prerequisite, but children ages 4 and older who have attended pre-k are welcome to register with approval. Share day on final day of class for family and friends!
