Description of the Event: 

The specific purposes of the GHFJ are to bring together the Hartford regions diverse cultural groups in anticipation of jazz music; to affirm Hartford’s historic identity as the center of creativity in the art and more particularly in jazz music and education; to create a showcase for new talent in the greater Hartford region; to bring the international jazz world to the greater Hartford area for a cultural enrichment of its citizens; to contribute to the cultural and artistic revitalization of the Capital Region and the Greater Hartford region; to come back community deterioration through such cultural enrichment and to emphasize the pride, discipline, knowledge and teamwork necessary to perform in the jazz medium; to aid, form, direct, promote, organize, develop, sponsor, support, coordinate and conduct programs with organizations, associations institutions, corporations, societies and agencies engaged in the activities of effectuate the purpose of GHFJ; and to secure human rights established and guarantee by law regardless of race creed color national origin age sex or physical handicap.
