Filmed in October 2021 at Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, Emergence 1 & 2 are inspired by writing, dance, and song developed in JDPP residencies at York Correctional Institution over the past 16+ years. These documentary performances are based on the authentic voices and experiences of residency participants who currently reside in or have returned from prison and highlight what we need to understand about incarceration in order to build a more open, just, and kind world.
