The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

  • Eno Memorial Hall 754 Hopmeadow Street Simsbury, CT, 06070 United States (map)

Theatre Guild of Simsbury is pleased to present THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME A play by Simon Stephens. Based on the novel by Mark Haddon.

This transformative play shook the West End as well as Broadway to the core with its life affirming themes that blend interpretation of events through the eyes of a myriad of characters centering around Christopher, a 15 year old with autism. The fact that Christopher is on the autism spectrum causes sensitivity to sound, light, and words. Christopher craves order and truth, but is unable to have normal human interactions due to hyper sensitivity to stimuli of all kinds. The audience is rapidly thrust inside the beautiful but tormented mind of Christopher who reveals the secret, magical complexities within.

Curious Incident is contemporary, notable, and thought-provoking. At times it is very funny and light-hearted, with many moments of introspection and vulnerability. Please note how the actors move or don’t move through the space. What you will see is partly a recreation of Christopher’s experiences and memories, and partly happening in real time. Sometimes these timelines cross without warning, and elements of the past and present are interwoven. Allow yourself to be immersed in Christopher’s world and investigate the outside world as he does.

Cost: $22-$24
