A traveling folk festival in itself, The Portables include singers and musicians who perform a blend of traditional and contemporary folk music. Armed with banjo, tin whistles, autoharp, fiddle, spoons, dulcimers, guitars, upright bass, dobro and harmonica and even sometimes a cornet and a tuba!
The Portables were formed in 1974 by Bill Domler, one of the founders of The Sounding Board Coffeehouse. They are known as the Sounding Board’s “house band”. They have played all over the Eastern seaboard as well as country fairs and even opened once for Pete Seeger!
