Still Life Painting in Watercolors

  • Arts Center East 709 Hartford Turnpike Vernon, CT, 06066 United States (map)

This class is intended for those who have some prior watercolor experience as well as for beginners. All are welcome!

It will begin with a one session review of drawing techniques covering composition, light source, proper perspective, and reflections and shadows, plus some common mistakes to avoid in your work. A handout on these topics will be provided.

In the remaining sessions, a reference photo and/or a sketch of the suggested still life will be emailed to class participants beforehand, and then discussed in class as well. The emphasis will be on composition and the underlying drawing, and how shapes and tone are especially important. We’ll explore how the unique behavior of the watercolor medium can work to your advantage in producing an attractive still life painting.

Cost: $150/$135 for ACE Members
